Admiral Island, Port Owen
Admiral Island is a manmade island and residential estate situated in Port Owen, between Laaiplek and Velddrif on the West Coast, only 90 min drive from Cape Town. The island is surrounded by 2km private waterways and the Berg River. Two thirds of the houses on the island are water-front stands. The waterways provide safe passage of yachts and powerboats in any weather. There is only one secure entrance to the island, making this a very safe island.
There is nothing like water to restore the body and give you a renewed hope for the next adventure. This house is so spacious you will never feel anyone is cramping your style. The high ceilings and open plan enhance the openness and all you can do is take a deep breath and let go of everything. You can pick up your worries when you leave again, or just maybe they would be so insignificant that you leave them right where you dropped them on arrival.
What popped into my mind while writing this is the phrase “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue”, not that this has anything to do with a wedding but there is something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue in the house and it all coming together beautifully.
There is enough space for everyone, you can entertain, braai, play games, watch a movie or go down to the waterfront and sit on one of the benches enjoying a sundowner. If that does not do it for you and you want to “kuier”/visit with the locals you can join them at the yacht club on a Friday night.
The 4 spacious bedrooms with open plan en-suite bathrooms are stylishly decorated combining the old and new. Here you can catch your breath, let your thoughts go and your imagination roam freely.
Another positive about the island, you can go for walks and the kids can play in the park safely. Some other things to enjoy are boat cruises on the river, bird watching, rowing, fishing, swimming at nearby beaches and yacht cruises in the area.
This is clearly a must visit destination, there are a lot to see and even more to do. Hope to see you soon!
